Solar PV and 2017 NEC Code Standards - September 7-8, 2018 (Fri 1PM-5PM, Sat 8AM-12PM), 8 CEU hours
- This course will teach students the latest standards of the National Electrical Code as it relates to solar photovoltaic systems. It will cover the latest changes in the code and cover what has been accepted by New Mexico Construction and Industries division, as well as other local jurisdictions. In this fast changing market, it is important to keep up with what local electrical inspectors are looking for and understanding the theory behind them.
Energy Storage Based PV System Fundamentals and Design - September 14-15, 2018 (Fri 1PM-5PM, Sat 8AM-5PM), 12 CEU hours
- This course will teach students the design, installation and maintenance of off-grid and battery based photovoltaic systems, teaching the fundamentals of battery theory, load analysis, and system design. This class will then expand on the fundamentals and teach students the challenges of installation including safety and accessibility, permitting and inspection, maintenance, upgrading and eventual replacement of batteries and other system components. In this fast-changing world of off grid solar, this class will help prepare students for the systems of today and the direction of systems to come.
Advanced Grid Tie Design and O&M - September 20-22, 2018 (Thurs 1PM-5PM, Fri 8AM-5PM, Sat 8AM-5PM), 20 CEU hours
- This course will teach students the design, installation and maintenance of grid-interactive photovoltaic systems, expanding on the fundamentals taught in basic level courses. This class will expand on design theory, electrical code requirements, and applications ranging from residential to large commercial. New Mexico is experiencing a growth surge in large scale solar and this class will help prepare students with the challenges of such applications.
