Ethical decision making as a guardian or conservator with and for others involves understanding cognitive deficits due to dementia, developmental disabilities, mental illness or other diagnoses impacting the client's full capacity to comprehend treatment options and to consent or decline.

In this session, you will learn about the above and how to communicate and build trust with your client. You will also learn behavioral management strategies that emphasize structure and familiar routine.

This section will also cover physical issues, diseases, and acronyms common to aging; common medications, dosage and usage concerns for the elderly as well as those with developmental disabilities.
