Oral communication in the 21st century includes both verbal and nonverbal communication. An effective oral communicator can speak with clarity and precision in formal as well as informal contexts.

Effective communicators exhibit four core sub-competencies:

  • Use stories to communicate ideas and increase engagement;
  • Speak with clarity and precision;
  • Use the appropriate tone and word choice;
  • Listen actively

This course is one of seven of the Professional Skills Series. These are the most in-demand skills that employers are seeking to help them reach their short term and long term success.

Courses can be taken individually or as a series. This 4-week course is online and self-paced but with an instructor available for assistance.
